The 10th Funakoshi Gichin Cup World Karate-do Championships 2006
24/10/2006
I am very pleased to announce that the JKA WF's World Karate-do Championships will be held in Sydney, Australia from 14th to 20th August, 2006.Commemorating the 10th World Championships, JKA WF has decided, with the support and consent of very senior close disciples of the late Funakoshi Sensei, to change the name of the championships to the "Funakoshi Gichin Cup World Karate-do Championships 2006," in order to honor his great achievements and make it clear that JKA is the only worldwide organization that is the legitimate successor to Funakoshi Sensei's Shotokan School of Karate-do.
JKA is very proud of our own unique, genuine martial art karate, which has been inherited from Funakoshi Sensei and steadily improved by JKA against the background of the long Japanese tradition of martial arts extending over many centuries. I very much welcome all JKA Karate-ka of the world to join in these historic championships.
The Japan Karate Association of Australia cordially invites all Japan Karate Association members to the 10th Funakoshi Gichin Cup World Karate-do Championships, 2006. This event is to be held at the Olympic Park Sports Center, Sydney, Australia, the site of the 2000 Olympic Games, with junior competition to take place on Thursday, the 17th, and open competition on Saturday the 19th, and Sunday the 20th of August, 2006.
